Early Childhood Pre-K Teacher Academy
The Early Childhood Education Pre-K Teacher Academy is a 9 credit-hour program provided by the Birth – Kindergarten program in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. It provides an alternative route for educators working in qualifying preschool settings to earn a first-time license in Early Childhood Pre-K.
Participants take 9 hours of graduate-level coursework designed specifically for this Academy, which is delivered both synchronously and asynchronously in summer and fall.
This program is available at no cost for admitted educators. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or at least 18 hours of Early Childhood Education coursework as part of a bachelor's degree or higher. Applicants must have been employed in previous academic year and be employed in the current academic year in a setting serving three, four, and five-year-olds in Arkansas and have a signed participation form from the district or program.
Applicants must also have a passing score or meet the alternate score and have an approved Alternate Assessment Plan (AAP) on the Praxis: Education of Young Children (5024) before the start of the Summer Academy.
Application: The Early Childhood Education Pre-K Teacher Academy application is online. After admission to the academy, students must apply to the U of A Graduate School as a non-degree seeking student.
